LLLWeek
The LLLWeek aims to raise awareness on lifelong learning’s capacity to answer many challenges of modern societies and it has become a milestone in the European education agenda, thanks to the support of civil society actors and Members of the European Parliament.
In 2025 the LLLWeek will see its 15th edition, running on 8-12 December 2025. The LLLWeek will be inscribed on the 20th anniversary of the Lifelong Learning Platform and, as such, will delve into its 5 renewed priorities: Investment, Inclusion, Innovation, Internationalisation and Intermediaries. To ensure consistency and belonging, each day of the week will be dedicated to one of the topics and each day will have a host MEP.
Meet the LLLWeek hosts

MEP Victor Negrescu
LLLP is delighted to have MEP Victor Negrescu, Vice President of the European Parliament, hosting for a second time an LLLWeek edition! This time, the host for the day dedicated to Investment in Education and Training. MEP Negrescu is a longstanding and friendly supporter of LLLP, in both his mandates as Member of the European Parliament. With him and with the rest of the co-chairs as hosts, the LLLWeek enjoys the official support of the EP Intergroup on the Future of Education and Skills, especially in the context of the EU budget negotiations and the demands of the Intergroup on this.

MEP Zoltán Tarr
"For me, the Lifelong Learning Week is a reminder that learning does not end with school. In a rapidly changing world, our ability to stay curious, to grow, and to renew our skills is what keeps our societies strong. That is why I see lifelong learning not as a luxury, but as one of the most important investments we can make in people. With this in mind, I am pleased to host the second day of the 15th Lifelong Learning Week. By placing inclusion at the centre, we recognise that people across Europe need learning opportunities tailored to their realities, so that everyone has the chance to thrive, contribute, and take part fully in our democratic life."

MEP Brigitte van den Berg
"Lifelong learning plays an essential role in ensuring that the EU remains competitive and innovative. However, for the past years we have heard this phrase day in and day out. For me, it is important that these are not empty words, because behind every policy or programme there are actual people: namely adult learners, teachers, trainers and communities, who grow and adapt together. Lifelong learning and adult learning might not be the first thing we think about when we think and talk about innovation, but what we often forget is that it is one of the driving forces behind an innovative Europe. These experts, reskilling and upskilling and going with the flows and changes within our Union, are the heroes we need in Europe. However, they are not always recognised, especially in the field of vocational education and training. Therefore, I think we should celebrate past successes, learn from them, and continue focusing on this driving force, by bringing together all experts in this field, like we are doing during the LLL week, and together put this topic at the top of the EU agenda, so together we can continue this great mission".

MEP Nela Riehl
"It is an honour to host this fourth day of the Lifelong Learning Week, dedicated to Internationalisation!
Today's and tomorrow's challenges urge us to invest in international cooperation in education and training, at all ages and levels – from primary to higher education, VET, and lifelong learning. To make the Union of Skills a reality, we must further develop transnational cooperation among educational institutions, and international training and mobility programmes for pupils, students, adult learners, educators, and teachers.
The Global Gateway’s education pillar and Erasmus Mundus are first steps in the EU’s commitment to strengthening global partnerships in education, promoting academic excellence, and ensuring that learning mobility is a truly global opportunity.
Internationalisation is a driver of economic integration but above all – and perhaps most importantly – of social integration. An internationalised learning pathway results in better intercultural understanding and ultimately in more peaceful and democratic societies, where our European values of solidarity, diversity and openness prevail".
