ImpactBOX Charter: turning inclusion into a shared commitment
How can education and training organisations move from supporting inclusion in principle to embedding it in their everyday practices?
The ImpactBOX Charter provides a shared framework for organisations that want to strengthen their commitment to inclusion, diversity, participation and accessibility in education and training.
Developed within the ImpactBOX project, the Charter brings together key principles to encourage organisations to reflect on their practices and work towards environments where everyone can participate, contribute and feel valued.
From principles to practice
Creating more inclusive education and training goes beyond individual activities or projects. It also means looking at how organisations work, identifying potential barriers and considering whether different people can participate equitably.
The ImpactBOX Charter supports this reflection by encouraging organisations to translate their commitment to inclusion into their everyday practices.
Rather than treating inclusion as a one-time action, the Charter promotes an ongoing process of recognising barriers, responding to different needs and creating conditions that enable meaningful participation.
A shared commitment to inclusion
The Charter reflects the wider objectives of ImpactBOX, which aims to support education and training providers, civil society organisations and other stakeholders in developing more inclusive and sustainable practices.
Throughout the project, partners are developing learning resources, training activities and practical tools around four interconnected themes:
Access and participation in learning
Inclusion and diversity
Digital skills for inclusion
Environmental sustainability for inclusion and a just transition
Together, these themes look at inclusion from different but connected perspectives: who can access and participate in learning, how inclusive organisations are, how people experience the digital transition, and how the green transition can be made fair and accessible.
Why a Charter?
Education and training organisations across Europe work in very different contexts, but they often face similar questions: Who is able to participate? Who might encounter barriers? Are our practices accessible to people with different needs and backgrounds? How can inclusion become part of our everyday organisational culture?
The ImpactBOX Charter offers a common point of reference for reflecting on these questions and encourages organisations to consider how inclusion can be strengthened within their own context.
It is part of ImpactBOX's broader work towards education and training environments that are more inclusive, accessible and responsive to diverse learners and communities.
